About

PAT began his photography career in San Diego, CA as a newspaper photojournalist. He was a staff photographer for the Los Angeles Times for nearly twenty years, and was also the Photo Editor the the L.A. Times Sunday Magazine for two years. His assignments have taken him all over the U.S. and far-flung parts of the world, covering stories such as the Philippine Revolution, Desert Storm, the Pope's U.S. tour, presidential campaigns, several Summer Olympics, and feature stories in Europe, Latin America, Canada, and Asia in addition to his own backyard. He has won awards from Univ. of Missouri's Pictures of the Year, the NFL Hall of Fame, Sigma Delti Chi, and has been a part of two Pulitzer Prize-winning teams. A project on homicide in L.A. was a finalist for the Pulitzer's Distinguished Public Service Medal, their highest award.

Pat was also the Photo Editor for the Los Angeles Times Sunday Magazine for two years, gaining excellent insight from "the other side of the desk" – working with and assigning numerous excellent photographers on stories.

He loves working on stories, and with people, but not exclusively. He prides himself on being an "expert generalist." :)
